Participation Grant Guidelines


Eligibility for Participation Grants

To be eligible for an HTAi Participation Grant, applicants must meet one primary eligibility requirement and at least one additional criterion. 

1. Primary Eligibility

Applicants must fall into one of the following groups: 

Low- or Middle-Income Counry (LMIC) Residents

  • The applicant resides in a low- or middle-income country, as defined by the World Bank country classification
  • Individuals temporarily living in a high-income country may apply if their permanent residence is in an LMIC.
  • Preference may be given to those currently residing in LMICs.

Patients and Caregivers

  • The applicant is a patient or caregiver who can provide patient insights relevant to health policy and HTA.
  • Must be associated with a not-for-profit patient engagement network.
  • A letter of confirmation from the orgnaization represented must be provided.

Students

  • The applicant is a full-time student enrolled in a post-secondary education program or course in HTA.
  • A certificate of enrollment must be provided.


2. Additional Eligibility Crieria

In addition to one of the primary groups above, applicants must also meet at least one of the following: 

  • Abstract Submission: Be a participant in a Panel or Workshop abstract or have an abstract submitted for an Oral or Poster presentation
  • HTA Affiliation: Demonstrate a current link (volunteering, employment, or academic) to an HTA agency, government body, academic research center, or another relevant health system organization.
  • Future HTA Engagement: Show clear interest in becoming involved in HTA (e.g., through study, or establishing HTA activities in your jurisdiction). 
    • A letter of support must be provided in this case.

3. Additional Notes

  • HTAi aims to support as many participants as possible from diverse organizations. 
  • Consecutive applications are welcome. 
  • Extra scoring points are awarded to:
    • Applicants who have not received a Participation Grant in the past two years
    • Applications that help ensure geographic and organizational diversity
  • To maximize distribution of funding, typically only one recipient per organization is awarded..

Remember! Applications must be accompanied by the appropriate supporting documents (letters, certificates, confirmation) to be considered complete.
