What You Need for Entry to Türkiye

Overview

Türkiye offers different visa paths depending on nationality, passport type, and purpose of visit. Most delegates will either fall under visa exemption, use the eVisa system, or need to apply via Turkish diplomatic missions. Always check passport validity and plan ahead.

1. Do You Need a Visa?

  • Visa-Exempt Nationals
If your country’s passport allows visa-free entry (typically up to 90 days within 180 days), the visa is not required.
List of Countries: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye
  • eVisa Eligible Nationals
Eligible delegates can apply online for an eVisa—processing takes about 3 minutes, available 24/7, only for tourism or commerce (including conferences).

  • Other Nationals
For travel purposes beyond tourism or commerce, or if your nationality isn't covered by the above, you must apply through a Turkish embassy or consulate using the PreApplication System for Turkish Sticker Visa.

2. How to Apply?

3. Passport Validity and Insurance

  • Passport Validity Requirement
Per Turkish law (Article 7.1b of Law No. 6458), your passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond your permitted stay
  • Medical Insurance
All foreigners must hold medical insurance valid for the duration of their stay in Türkiye.

4. Important Notes

  • Entry Not Guaranteed
Even with a visa or eVisa, final entry is at border control discretion.
  • Stay Limits
You may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This limit is universal—for example, using two passports won't allow extended stays.
  • Minors
Applicants under 18 must provide written consent from both parents, or appropriate custody documents.

5. Entry Purpose: Conference Attendance

Conference delegates generally qualify under Tourism/Business (Conference/Seminar) category and may use:

  • Visa exemption (if eligible),
  • or the e-Visa system (if your nationality allows).
If neither applies, follow the sticker visa process via preapplication and embassy.
