Abstract Submission Guidelines

Scoring Criteria

All abstract submissions will be peer-reviewed by experts appointed by the HTAi International Scientific Program Committee (ISPC). The scoring process is designed to be fair, transparent, and aligned with the goals of the HTAi 2026 Annual Meeting.

Submissions are assessed based on the following three core criteria, as well as additional considerations that support inclusion and diversity.

1. Appropriateness to HTAi
  • The abstract must clearly align with the mission of HTAi and the theme of the 2026 Annual Meeting.
  • The content should demonstrate relevance to HTA research, policy, or practice.
  • Panels and Workshops should include knowledgeable speakers representing a variety of perspectives and/or settings

2. Original and Innovative Contribution
  • Submissions that introduce new ideas, perspectives, or methods will receive higher scores.
  • This includes work that:
    • Challenges existing paradigms
    • Addresses an innovative hypothesis or key barrier
    • Develops or applies novel concepts, tools, or methodologies

3. Abstract Structure and Quality
  • Submissions must follow the structural format provided for each presentation type.
  • Clarity, logical flow, and correct grammar/spelling all influence scoring.
  • Abstracts that are incomplete, poorly written, or lacking key information will be marked down.
See Submission Requirements for structure by type

Additional Review Considerations

Reviewers are also encouraged to recognize abstracts that:

  • Demonstrate gender balance among presenters/moderators
  • Include studentsearly-career professionals, and/or first-time presenters
  • Come from or feature contributions by Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)
  • Represent the voices of patients, service users, or caregivers

While not mandatory, these factors contribute positively to diversity, equity, and global relevance.

Review Process
  • Each abstract will be scored by at least 3 independent reviewers.
  • Reviewers are selected based on expertise in the topic area chosen by the submitter.
  • Final decisions on inclusion and programming will be made by the International Scientific Program Committee and HTAi Secretariat
