IECS - INSTITUTE FOR CLINICAL EFFECTIVENESS AND HEALTH POLICY
Department of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Health Economics 

IECS is an independent, non-profit institution dedicated to research, education, and technical cooperation in health. Since 2002, IECS has actively collaborated with international organizations, governments, academic institutions, patient and professional associations, industry, and healthcare providers, particularly focusing on low- and middle-income countries. 

As a member of INAHTA since 2003 and part of the Americas' HTA network, RedETSA, IECS has built a strong reputation in health technology assessment and health economics. IECS Department of Health Technology Assessment and Health Economics, recognized as a WHO Collaborating Center and an Argentinean Cochrane Center, is committed to expanding knowledge and developing tools to inform healthcare policy decision-making. 

Focused on improving effectiveness, efficiency, and equity in health systems across Latin America and other low- and middle-income countries, the department has played a pivotal role in advancing healthcare knowledge and tools. It has significantly contributed to the growth of health technology assessment and health economics in countries including Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Brazil, India, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, and Uruguay. 

IECS has a strong capacity-building track record: it is affiliated with the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and offers a Master's Program in Clinical Effectiveness, along with several postgraduate courses in HTA-related fields. To date, more than 3,000 students have graduated from these programs. 

Hosting the HTAi Annual Meeting in 2025 will enable IECS to enhance the development of health technology assessment in the region, continuing our commitment to promoting expert HTA research and making significant contributions to its advancement, leveraging our extensive network of contacts.
